Layout Day #1

Hello everyone!

Yesterday was our first layout day for the October issue of Eastside. Brittany, Angie and I have never contributed to the layout process so this was a new experience for us! A2B woke up very excited for this day. We thought it would consist of hanging out with our fellow editors, eating food and just having a jovial time putting this newspaper together. However, by the end of the day, Angie and I were on the couch in the Eastside room ready to take a nap. Brittany was trying to photoshop a Mac screen on a Mac... If any of you have ever had any time discovering the wonderful, magical world of photoshop, nothing is a simple task.

After this long week, it is safe to say that all of our brains are fried. All three of us had a mental breakdown and cried at some point during the day, but try to understand we did spend 8 hours in that room on a Friday night after a long week of school! This is my first blog post, and its purpose is simply to share with whoevers reading about our first layout day!

A2B has been working really hard this week. For the first time in Eastside photo history, we have come together as a team and got all the work done! I am so proud of A2B and I know we are going to be a great force for this newspaper. Yes, it was a little more work than we expected, but we are going to stay at it--taking and editing pictures because that's what we love doing!

As far as Layout Day goes, one of our fellow editors told me, "You can never spend too much time in F087!". I have now come to terms with that fact. I am also starting to see how the Eastside family works and behaves with each other. And as weird and crazy as it is, they really are a family. Now we are apart of it!

Eastside also has adopted some class pets (sea monkeys) so that is exciting! Usually Layout Day is on a Saturday, and everyone is required to go. So I will have to report to you guys next time.
